7 Ways to Celebrate your pet during National Pet Month!

By May 13, 2021 blog

May is National Pet Month! Of course, every day brings its own reasons to dote on your pet, but this month serves as a great reminder to give your pet’s health and happiness some special attention. Here are some great ways to show some extra love to your pet to celebrate:

Give your pet a little pampering. Just as humans love a good spa day, a grooming session can help your pet look and smell their freshest. Even better, it can keep them feeling great, too. Grooming can keep fur and skin healthy, avoid injuries to the paws, and prevent health complications, among many other advantages. Our groomers Fawn and Jazmine offer grooming sessions that include a bath, haircut or trim, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. Your pet will feel oh-so-fine.

2. Check-In on Their Dental Hygiene

Providing regular maintenance for your pet’s dental health can help them get used to oral cleanings and help prevent unwanted complications. Take a second to think about how you can support your pet’s dental hygiene at home–perhaps incorporating dental chews or tooth-brushing into their routine. And of course, if your pet is exhibiting bad breath, pain, or other symptoms, be sure to check in with your vet about dental services

3. Make Some Homemade Treats

Who doesn’t love a delicious treat? From dog treats to cat treats, there are tons of fun (and healthy) recipes that you can make right at home. You can even get creative with flavors, shapes, and ingredients. Whether you’re making peanut butter bites for your pooch or sardine snacks for your cat, you can customize these treats to fit into your pet’s dietary needs. Your pet will certainly love this special little gift for National Pet Month.

4. Spruce Up Their Bed

Whether it’s a crate, a cage, or a spot in the living room, every pet needs a place in the home that belongs to them. When was the last time you gave that place some attention? Try adding a new blanket, pillow, scratching post, or another similar item to help your pet feel comfy as can be. Remember, you don’t have to break the bank or buy something brand new–your pet will probably adore a blanket that already smells like you.

Keeping your pet active and stimulated brings a world of benefits. With spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to take your dog (or even your cat) out for a special adventure. You can check out Waggy World Paw Park right here in Alpharetta or maybe even go on a hike on the Big Creek Greenway Trail. Your furry friend is sure to have a blast spending some time exploring together.

7. Schedule Their Next Wellness Appointment

One of the best ways to take care of your pet is to make sure they are having regular wellness examinations and that they’re up-to-date on all their vaccinations. That’s why we have canine and feline preventative care programs that target your pet’s needs at every age. National Pet Month is a great time to get your next check-up with your vet on the calendar. Your vet can evaluate your pet’s overall health and make sure that they receive all the screenings and preventative measures needed to stay healthy.
